YouTube Gold: Randolph Childress Goes Clutch Against The Heels

A lot of ACC fans have gotten used to the idea of Wake Forest as a non-factor and that’s too bad because at times, Wake has been a huge ACC factor and perhaps never more so than when Randolph Childress and Tim Duncan suited up for the Deacs.

Duncan was Duncan but Childress was one of the great clutch players in ACC history. His taunt of UNC’s Jeff McInnis is legendary (he faked him off his feet and then waved at him to get up before nailing a jumper), but he also scored 37 points in that ACC Tournament title game, including the winning shot.

When you consider the great clutch players in ACC history, most people would Christian Laettner the best. Michael Jordan’s shot to clinch the 1982 championship vs. Georgetown is still epic and Michael Snaer had several game winners during his time at FSU.

Childress is right there with those guys. During his time in the ACC, no one could really stop him.
