The Katy ISD Gerald D. Young Agricultural Sciences Center has been awarded multiple distinguished architecture honors by The Texas Association of School Administrators and Texas Association of School Boards.

The organizations announced Monday that the Agricultural Center will be featured among the 46 projects in the 2021-22 Exhibit of School Architecture. Projects included in the exhibition represent newly constructed or renovated public education facilities completed in the past five years, said Laura Davis, media relations representative for Katy ISD.

The Katy ISD Agricultural Sciences Center was awarded five Exhibit of School Architecture Stars of Distinction for Design, Value, Innovation, Community and Transformation.

“With the construction of the Agricultural Sciences Center, Katy ISD was able to provide active learning opportunities about agriculture, animals, and nature in an effective, modern environment,” said Lisa Kassman, Katy ISD’s Executive Director of Facilities, Planning and Construction.

For the competition, schools are selected by a 12-member jury, including four school board members, four school administrators, and four members from the Association for Learning Environments Southern Region, Davis explained.

The juried exhibit awarded Stars of Distinction for Excellence to 22 projects in the categories of design, value, innovation, community, planning and school transformation.
