GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Pitt graduate midfielder Matt Bailey and Virginia Tech freshman midfielder Danny Flores earned ACC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Duke senior goalkeeper Eliot Hamill picked up ACC Defensive Player of the Week laurels for the third time this season.

A native of Kent Island, Maryland, Bailey scored his first goal as a Panther on Saturday in No. 15 Pitt’s 2-0 victory at No. 2 Clemson. His 58th-minute goal broke a scoreless deadlock. Making his first start of the season, Bailey scored off a Veljko Petkovic pass and helped Pitt earned its second win over a top-five foe this season and helped snap Clemson’s 31-match home unbeaten streak, which dated to the 2018 season.

Flores scored a spectacular golden goal in overtime Friday in a 2-1 ACC triumph against Notre Dame, dribbling through four defenders in the box before slipping the ball past the goalkeeper. The goal was No. 4 on SportsCenter’s Top 10 Plays that evening. The Half Moon Bay, California, native played 188 minutes in the Hokies’ wins against William & Mary and Notre Dame last week.

Hamill made five saves Friday as No. 6 Duke went on the road and posted a 1-0 victory at Syracuse. A native of Scarsdale, New York, Hamill faced 10 shots and posted his fifth shutout of the season. He currently leads the league in shutouts (5), save percentage (.964) and goals against average (0.16). Duke’s five shutouts this season marks the program’s most since 2004.

Nine ACC teams are in non-league action in midweek matches this week. Conference play resumes Friday with five matches, including a top-25 showdown in Durham, North Carolina, as No. 14 Louisville visits No. 4 Duke. Virginia and Notre Dame face off at 6 p.m. Friday on ACC Network. NC State and North Carolina wrap up the weekend at 7 p.m. Sunday in a clash that also will be televised on ACC Network.

Five ACC teams are ranked in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll: Duke (4), Virginia Tech (11), Louisville (14), Pitt (16) and Clemson (19).
