Another Pair of Top 5 Preseason Rankings Announced for Cowgirl Softball

STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State softball team has been ranked No. 2 in the SoftballAmerica 2022 Preseason Top 25 and No. 4 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Preseason Collegiate Top 25, it was announced today.
 
The top marks from SoftballAmerica and ESPN.com/USA Softball are the Cowgirls’ third and fourth top-five rankings of the 2022 preseason. Oklahoma State also boasts the No. 3 ranking from D1Softball‘s Preseason Top 25 and the No. 2 mark in the Big 12 Conference preseason poll.
 
The Cowgirls’ collection of top-five preseason spots is further validation of how they have earned a spot among the sport’s elite in recent years. A closer look:
 
– Oklahoma State joins Alabama, Arizona, Oklahoma and UCLA as the only teams to appear in each of the last two Women’s College World Series.
– Including the last two seasons, Oklahoma State now has 13 Women’s College World Series appearances all-time. Only UCLA, Arizona, Oklahoma, Arizona State and Cal have more.
– Oklahoma State has produced six All-Americans in the last two seasons. Only UCLA and Oklahoma have more.
– Oklahoma State has been ranked in the top 25 of the NFCA poll in each of its last 146 games played.
– Oklahoma State’s 28-8 record (77.8 pct.) is second in the Big 12 Conference over the last two seasons, trailing only Oklahoma. The Cowgirls have finished no lower than third in the Big 12 standings in each of the last five seasons.
 
The Cowgirls open the season February 10 when they take on Arizona State in the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Arizona.
